This abandoned farm is a speck from U.S. Route 2, surrounded by wheat fields on the Waterville Plateau in Washington state. I'm guessing most drivers miss it. I wanted a closer look so I got off the highway and followed a dirt road to the location. I turned up the driveway and parked near the windmill perched atop a pump house. I've not seen another windmill supported like this in the state although I'm sure others exist. Farm windmills have a different personality than wind turbines in the state. They are blue collar, friendly, inviting. The way I like them.
