Erin is 63, Zach 23. Both are surfers. And survivors. I met them an hour apart in Huntington Beach, Calif. Erin, who drives a van covered with stickers, was a homeless drug addict for years. Today he is clean and sober and serving Jesus Christ. "All the mistakes I made, all the pain and suffering doesn't have to go to waste," he said. "I can use it to help others and let them know that He came for the broken." Zach works at Jack's Surf Shop, which is across the street from the public pier. The previous day, surfing off that same pier, he was attacked by a shark or "something that had teeth, really big." Zach was tossed into the surf when the creature took a bite out of the bottom of his surfboard. He escaped by swimming to shore. He took a minute to share the story in the store (below).
